Our History

Morgan & Morgan, P.C. is among the oldest public accounting firms serving clients throughout the Greater Boston area and beyond. Our team of dedicated accounting professionals has provided full-service accounting to individuals, corporations, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations for over 100 years!

The firm was founded in 1917 by Walter S. Morgan and R. Harrison Morgan, brothers who were prominent in business and education in the Boston community. Shortly after, they founded the Morgan School of Accounting and Finance on Tremont Street in Boston, which they operated for ten years. Walter S. Morgan later served as the State Comptroller for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under Governor Leverett Saltonstall.

Walter H. Morgan, the son of R. Harrison Morgan, began his career at Morgan & Morgan in 1946. A graduate of M.I.T., Mr. Morgan served in the US Army for three years and worked in New York City and Connecticut before working for the firm. His brother-in-law, Bernard Allen, joined him in the late 1950s. Under their direction and leadership, the public accounting firm relocated to Quincy in 1975 and prospered into the 1980s.

Since the early 1980s, the firm has thrived under the guidance of Thomas J. McKinnon and Timothy D. MacLellan.
